Ever wonder what your name would be if YOU were Amish? My given name is Elizabeth Ruth Byler...Ruth is probably more of a common Amish name than Elizabeth but Byler is all over the place!
In this era of instant everything...how about becoming "Insta-Amish!"
So, are you ready to have your own Amish name?
Here's what you do.
For your first name take the last letter of your first name. For example, mine is “H” so I would be: Lucy.
Then, your last name is the day you were born. For example, I was born on the 12th so my last name would be Gingrich.
Lastly, use your the first initial of your dad's first name. For me, that's J for Joe.
My "Almost Amish" name is: Lucy J. Gingrich.
Now, please, by all means...Amish-ify yourself!
First names: Females, Male
Sooo...who are you? Miriam Zook? Hannah Mullet? David Nissley? Jesse King? Tell me in the comments section and tell me a little bit about this new alter-Amish-ego of yours.
Your Turn: I'd love to hear what your Amish name is in the comments section! ALSO, I often am requested to speak Pennsylvania Dutch when people learn of my heritage. Would you like to hear the Amish language? In the comment section below, tell me what words or phrases you'd like to hear in the Amish dialect Pennsylvania Dutch! Then, in the next few weeks, I'll upload a video to share with you.
